Use this letter if you are applying for voluntary work. The work where you are not getting paid. This could be good just to get some experience so you can put the experience on your resume or if you really just want to learn about a certain industry.
Subject Line: Cover Letter for [Voluntary Job Title]
Dear [Title and Name of Recipient],
I would like to apply to work on a voluntary basis for [Company Name]. I am very interested in [industry] and I believe that my skillset could extra value for your team. [Insert here any relevant studies or experience]. I have attached my resume for your consideration.
I am available for work on [days and time]. I hope we can meet soon so that I may answer any further questions you might have regarding my application.
You may contact me by email or by calling [phone number]. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from you at your own convenience.
Yours sincerely,
[Company Name] - If it's just a person who you are working for and you are not sure if there is a company name, then just write what you know, so if it's a person, just write the person's name. But generally we're going to be using this company name.
[industry] - Maybe it's education, maybe it is programming maybe it is politics, whatever it is.
[Insert here any relevant studies or experience] - say any experience that you do have. Any experience or maybe studies.
what did you study at university ? Maybe if this is relevant, then that will give you a better chance of getting this voluntary position.
When you attach something in an email, I'm sure you know how to attach another document. So make sure you don't forget to do that if it's an email. But if this is a postal letter, remember that at the bottom there, you also want to write that it is enclosed in the envelope.
[days and time] - whatever days and time.
It's important that you thank them for their time becase their time is precious.
Sometimes I'll say 'at your own convenience', sometimes I'll just say 'soon'. It really depends on the context, so feel free to change.
Make little changes here and there, but just make sure that you're using correct grammar.
